DFW YOGA COMMUNITY TO OFFER FREE CLASSES IN THE METROPLEX Yoga studios join together to celebrate fitness during the 4th Annual DFW Free Day of Yoga.

Dallas / Fort Worth, TX — September 6th, 2010 — This Labor Day, the yoga studios throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth area will open their doors to offer free classes as part of the 4th Annual Free Day of Yoga. From sunrise to sunset, studios across the Metroplex participate as a way to welcome people of every age and every fitness level to try yoga for the first time, experience a new style of yoga or share yoga with family and friends.

  • DFW Free Day of Yoga
  • Monday, September 6, 2010
  • Sunrise to Sunset Studios, parks and other venues throughout the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex
  • More information: DFWfreedayofyoga.com

Since the event’s inception in 2007, more than 9,000 students have joined in the Free Day of Yoga to experience the physical, spiritual, emotional and mental benefits of practicing yoga.

“The event spans the whole Metroplex and includes large and small studios specializing in all types of yoga,” says Michelle Mock, head of the DFW Free Day of Yoga volunteer organizing committee. “It is truly a community-wide celebration of fitness and all that yoga has to offer."

The Free Day of Yoga concept started in 1999 in Austin, Texas and has since been hosted in cities around the U.S. including Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Houston and even Honolulu. Over the past three years, free classes have been offered at over 170 Dallas / Fort Worth-area studios in communities reaching from Midlothian to Rockwall, from Denton to Waxahachie and all points in between.

Thanks in part to the contributions of community partners such as the Crow Collection of Asian Art and Luke’s Locker, the event is free for both studios and students.

“We are so proud to support this event,” says Sharon Lucas of Luke’s Locker. “These free classes are an excellent way to demonstrate that yoga has something for everyone regardless of their age, size, gender or experience level. Yoga offers enough breadth to offer a lifetime of fitness.”

Class information can be found at DFWfreedayofyoga.com or by visiting any Dallas/Fort Worth-area Luke’s Locker location for an information card. Students are encouraged to use the website to find classes with convenient locations and times and to RSVP to the studio. Studios may receive registration information by email.
